Did you see the Japanese announcement? They are ordering/preparing their southern islands by the island you are taking about to build reenforced bunkers and stock up on supplies…
No, I didn't see it. Am I missing something?
Yes, I know that Japan considers its Southern part/Island Kyushu strategic for international trade. Japan has been restructuring it as a plan to show itself as the intermediary between the North and the global south

Just commented about it below but here is a link to one of the articles discussing it.
The only reason I would believe China would make a move is really two-fold. One they are nearing a population cliff and this was what Russia was facing when they first launched the Ukrainian Invasion. Also, war is a known historic and fantastic way to continue to quiet the discontent in the Mainland and reboot its economy since it has been sluggish esp. by their standards compared to the last 20-30 years.

Its these islands that they mention... What is the thing Xi had said... reunification by 2030 or something? Makes sense Japan would move now to protect its citizens.

This is just a strategic move to be ready if China escalates to Taiwan.
If China does so, Japan is left with no other choice than to retaliate with US/NATO to stop Chinese aggression. So, the most affected part would be the adjacent to Taiwan. So, Japan is getting ready for my situation before a any serious breakout.
Still, I believe that China won't escalate as of now,
