You're onboarding a loved one and want to get them $5 of sats to start playing with. Which custodial solution you recommending? Are you warning of / factoring in rug risk?

SN wallet. Maybe he'll become a top stacker.
reply
Wrong.
  1. A newbie, have to create first a SN account. That means need another LN wallet to login. If he already have a LN wallet, you are just sending the sats THAT wallet not to SN account.
  2. SN "wallet" in fact is not a wallet, is just an account. A wallet is something you can use it outside of SN same as any LN wallet. But SN doesn't want to listen me and convert it into a LNDHUB account that can be used like that. Instead they just use a crappy method to link it to an external wallet.
So no, SN is not a wallet. And I will not onboard any newbies straight to SN. SN is much more, is the next level, when the newbie already know a base about BTc and LN. Otherwise is a fiasco.

LNAuth is one of 5 authentication methods supported on SN. Onboarding to SN doesn’t necessitate another LN wallet.
I don’t necessarily disagree with you, I just wanted to call out that detail

Yes, I used to have LN-auth in the past, now is just as a "backup". My main login is with nostr. LN wallets can be easily forgotten, changed, lost etc and people are so careless with these things.
I see many people using the same LN wallet for everything... WRONG. Totally wrong. Each wallet have its own use case. Do not mix up things.
IMHO, nostr login is the best one !

For everybody that want to onboard total newbies, please read and share these guides with them:
