I no longer advocate nor initiate bitcoin discussions with people. If they ask directly, I will happily talk about it and give me views.
Over time I've strained some friendships by talking about bitcoin in 2012-2013 timeframe.
Counter-intuitively, some people harbor a weird resentment against me because they chose not to buy. Now they feel like they missed out (they really haven't) but well, I can no longer talk to them about it because it brings up too many sore subjects.
There is another person in my life who did buy, but then they sold shortly after....at the time the told me repeatedly to sell since it was "going to be outlawed soon". Predictably they too harbor some weird resentment about the situation so we rarely talk about finance things anymore.
The end result is: Its basically impossible to help anyone unless they directly ask for it. Even in cases where you do convince them, it is likely it won't work out anyway.
Thanks for the input.
The only reason I brought it up with her is she asked me about it a couple of years ago. Very few people have. Most of my friends don't know I'm involved.
I could have brought it up around the 2022 low, but bull markets are better timing for getting people interested. I guess it's too early for her. Maybe she'll come back asking at the 2025 peak, or the 2029 one.
