I have a very eclectic taste in music, but I like to think I keep a high standard for all music I listen to.
That being said, I am human and not immune to guilty pleasures. Though they might be cheesy and overdone, I admit I really like 80's power ballads.
Here is a great example of a song that should not pass the muster of my purported high standards but I can't help but liking:
Now that I have shamed myself for the world to see, it is your turn. Give me your guilty pleasure song(s).

Jonas Brothers - Sucker

I just love the sound of this song, it's so different to all other pop songs, it's infectious. I have no idea what other songs they've done. Guilty

(...) what's the point in talking about reasons, sometimes one is enough, other times even all of them together, if your own lives haven't taught you this, then you're pitiful, and I say lives, not life, because we have several, fortunately they kill each other off, otherwise we wouldn't be able to live.

Hanson - MMMBop

Guilty as charged, but it's still a banger of a track

Postmodern Jukebox

I like it too

They also do a phenomenal version of this song. Great track.

Good one.

I'm with you on that song.
But I'll raise (or lower) the bar: The hyperpop (a genre way too young and fast for me) remix of "Friday" that Rebecca Black did for the tenth anniversary of the song with Dorian Electra, Big Freedia & 3OH!3.
reply
"it's Friday! Friday! Gunna get down on Friday" 🤣🤣 I feel gross inside remembering this track 🤣🤣 but yeah... I like it too.

Sounds like something that my son would listen to while playing roblox with his friends online. Which gives me the same visceral reaction as I assume me blasting Megadeth and Slayer from my room as a teen probably gave my parents.

Here's one in the same bucket:
And here's one, at least compared to the general opinion among adults, but to me it's just a very good album from one of the best natural melodymakers in the business, assuming she writes them:

Scorpions are great. I can listen to Winds of Change all day.

I really like this. It's got some of those bhangra elements. But mixed with modern electronic music. I enjoyed it.
reply
Its manele , a romanian gipsy style called manele with electronic style.
This is without electronic
reply
Ah ok!! That's cool to learn what it's called, I didnt know about it before. I actually prefer it without electronic. It sounds more authentic and I like that.

My 5 year old is loving this. She is dancing around the living room. This is fun.
reply
Yeah, I don't think that should have been a guilty pleasure. That's good shit.

I'm in some serious guilt/shame jail for mine 🤣🤣

This is good.

Glad you like it!

Its time I come clean. I can't fight this feeling anymore. I love this song. It's just great.
reply
I think next time we do who did it better covers I will drop some ballads. There are a lot of good ballad covers.
reply
For sure!! I know loads of power metal / symphonic metal covers of specifically 80s power ballads that are just beautiful 🤌🤌 that will be fun.
reply
Ok... Ok... It really is time to come clean, I have an eclectic music taste that ranges all the way from classical to some of the deepest darkest death metals.
But yaknow what I also enjoy...
Girly K-pop. Look it's formulaic and massively overproduced to be likeable... But that's what it is, it's likeable, it's fun it's catchy. I like it.
So here's BlackPink - as if it's your last. https://youtu.be/Amq-qlqbjYA?si=_xQQaCesuA-D1_yU
Please forgive me 🤣🤣

Sorry buddy you are on your own here. I can't back you on this one. Haha
reply
Haha! Trust me you've never seen something more hilarious than a long haired metalhead prancing around his kitchen to kpop 🤣🤣 I promise you, that's a sight and a half 🤣🤣
