Stable coins are not trying to compete with bitcoin. If anything it is dollar competition

I don't think tether is the future, but it is definitely a reality for many people as a dollar alternative and we have to accept it either we like it or not, aqua has a good strategy to lure people for tether usage but provide exposure to bitcoin at the same time.

I have received a lot of hate mail for recommending Aqua from the usual predictable suspects. 

I like the convenience of on chain bitcoin wallet, liquid and lightning functionality all in one app 

I don’t use Tron or tether 

Maybe tether in the future
