Quantum computers will break encryption one day.
Jury is still out on this. There is a physical limit to the amount of energy needed to flip the requisite bits, even if quantum computers can perform exponentially faster than classical computers. Quantum does not magically solve the problem. 256 bits is a really large number. Number of atoms in the known universe number. I am skeptical we will crack ECC this century. Certainly not "one day" any time soon.
