Does anyone have first-hand knowledge of bitcoin mining in Iceland? I wonder if there is any state sponsored mining going on, or do they only encourage private mining operations? The timing of this announcement seems odd, when bitcoin's price is near an all time high. They have plenty of clean, renewable energy. They are worried about their agricultural industry and relying on imported food, but that just seems to be the reality considering their geography and climate.
