It doesn't talk about stable coins or cryptocurrencies either.
The book is Paper Soldiers: How the Weaponization of the Dollar Changed the World Order by Saleha Mohsin.
It's an interesting read about how 9/11 turned OFAC into the beast we all know and love and how the US Treasury Department has expanded its power to such insane extents.
The book gives plenty of evidence that the US dollar is a weapon of war and that lots of other nations aren't happy about it, but it ends with a pretty soft: well, it's better than a currency run by some dictator.
Not even an aside it a footnote about money that isn't controlled by any nation.
We are early (or irrelevant).
I mean that's a pretty sad view to not even consider another option, just saying oh well this weapon benefits us more so 🤷

I don't think the very serious people in DC see bitcoin as another option.

Well they definitely didn't think using money as a weapon could have any repercussions so I would have to agree with you there

Can imagine board meetings in the 80s saying digitalisation will never affect their legacy businesses
They absolutely cannot comprehend losing control of their power
The last thing they'll do is write ✍️ it down
That makes it possible

That will be volume 2. The de-weaponization of the dollar.

We think about Bitcoin so much that we struggle to relate to world views that ignore it.
