Can anyone recommend a long form video to better understand the projects ongoing for BTC layer 2's....or recommend their favorite project. I'm only familiar with Ordinals.

Lightning network is the only real L2 which is currently operational. Everything else is probably a sidechain or a scam.

But without running a node myself which is difficult here in Belize considering electricity reliability my LN Sats are more or less custodial. If there are other projects in the works I'd like to be aware of them sooner than later.

You can run a LN node to spend sats on your phone. Read @DarthCoin's guides.

Hey Freak,
Be careful about wasting your time on the L2 flavor of the week.
What has you interested in bitcoin L2's? And in what ways are you looking to get involved?
I found a list of around 50 bitcoin L2's, all of them were suspect to say the least, and some weren't even L2's at all.

I just thought this would be a good community to ask, but I hadn't received any worthwhile responses.

There is a video on here about hedgehog a layer 2 payment system that can work with one party offline. It had been a few months since I've heard anything about layer 2 development. Around here there's about 4 people interested in btc at all. I try and keep up with new developments. I mean if something has merit I wanna know about it.

OK shitcoiner...
It is ONLY one: Lightning Network.
And here you have a guide to start with:

Forget about "projects" and crap shitcoineries. Concentrate only into learning about Bitcoin and Lightning Network.
You will thank me later.

I am just asking questions. I am new here but just because I am familiar with ordinals, as you seem to be aware, doesn't mean I pedal or trade in them. I am very interested in BTC but I also am aware of it's current lack of smart contract capabilities. Now I know there's project like RBG that has theoretically able to smart contract lightning btc, but I am interested in any new developments I am yet aware of. BTC is great but in Belize it is not viable. So shitcoiner or not I like to pay rent and eat.

I only don't like the attitude you are throwing at me. I live in Belize I make Belize money. I was only able to get any bitcoin (on chain) by paying cash. The next way was by selling gift certificates online and making swaps on de-fi. Besides that I've used games and fountain with a VPN to stack sats on lightning. But if you believe the shit attitude is wonderful I don't want to hear it. Pretty much the only reason I've been able to keep stacking sats.
