I love the that sections had to be edited because the writing was too good, and the fact that it was a bestseller is funny and sad at the same time.

I just read the synopsis, so it's about the adventures of a woman being unfaithful out of spite to her husband, I guess it may be okay, I've never heard of this novel.

Yeah, this is a delight, as is the South Florida version that Dave Barry, Carl Hiaasen, Elmore Leonard, and bunch of others concocted, Naked Came the Manatee.

I never heard of this. I am a big Hiaasen fan for pure entertainment. I have to check it out.

It was actually how I discovered Hiaasen! I was a huge Dave Barry fan in high school, and he wrote a column about the book. Was also my first Elmore Leonard (though I'd heard of him), as well as Tananarive Due (who's a fantastic horror novelist, but was just a columnist at the time).

I do a lot of business in Florida, and I have had many family members living there over the years. I liked to grab a Hiaasen book when I was visiting. Very funny!

My wife's from South Florida, so I've enjoyed the books even more over the years. Another writer in the same niche (but a bit zanier) was the late Tim Dorsey.

Yes, it was really a reflection of the contemporary American society. I can't imagine any other book or piece of writing that pointed out so much reality through fiction.
