The latest data from the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas paints a somber picture for Texas manufacturing in March 2024 and it comes as a sharp contrast to the econ data earlier this day. The general business activity index plummeted to -14.4, marking a notable decline of 3.1 points from the previous month's -11.3. Similarly, the company outlook index saw a significant drop of 7.7 points, landing at -16.2. Moreover, the outlook uncertainty index surged by 12 points, reaching a six-month high of 23.0. Of particular concern is the production index, which fell by 5.1 points to -4.1, indicating a slight but concerning decrease in output compared to the previous month.
