There I was, playing a game, then out of no where the developers patched the game to censor an element or two. It sucked, but I knew someone had most likely made a game mod to remove such censorship from the game, so I went looking for it, and it turns out there was, but then opening the page I found it that it had been removed, and the creator has been banned.
This wasn't the first time I, and many others, have experienced this. I got pissed.
"Screw it. I'll create an alternative."
Here's DEG Mods (degmods.com). A space for creators to present their game mods, to not be censored or banned, and have fans always be connected with them. This would be possible because it'd be built on Nostr.
The design and frontend are pretty much done (you can check it out on the site right now). All that's left is the Nostr part. Unfortunately I'm not a programmer so this is a bit far from me to do, however, there is one person I'm currently working with that would help with this, but it'll be a while before they'll start as they're working on a different project at the moment. With that said, however, if anyone's passionate about this and would be interested on working on the Nostr bit and have the project alive sooner, hit me up.
As soon as DEG Mods is functional, it'll be pretty easy to get game mods developers/creators on it, specifically the ones that has been censored and banned.
This would also bring in more people to Nostr, and ones that won't talk about bitcoin/nostr all the time, bringing in more diverse content on the protocol.
I'm assuming there'll be questions on how this site would deliver on the experience of publishing game mods and having others download it. I could Q&A myself in this first post, however, I'll won't do that and leave it to the current design of the website to answer those questions and see if everything would be clear (if not, then that'd be good feedback to work with).
What do you plebs think? =3
