I had an interesting conversation with a man from Punjab yesterday. I specifically asked him about this, and he is obviously a big Modi supporter. Unsurprisingly he believes the money laundering allegations are true. Generally speaking he says Modi has popular support because he has raised India's international status. He particularly likes how he stands up to Pakistan re Kashmir.
