In late January I posted a poll asking people whether or not they would get a Neuralink chip.
Last night, this video was released showing a real customer’s experience using Neuralink.
It’s pretty wild if you haven’t yet seen it.
I thought it would be fun to re-visit my initial poll question to see if Neuralink sentiment on SN has changed.
Would you be open to getting a chip in your brain to have the ability to control your phone or computer with your mind?
Yes3.0%
No78.8%
Maybe18.2%

Yes
But way into the future when it can be proper open source stuff. So probably not in my life time.
I want to be a cyborg, so far I only have an RFIDchip in my hand so I won't be inspector gadget any time soon :(

You'd be insane for any regular person to try this anytime soon. Anyone who has practiced medicine for any significant period of time has seen very routine procedures have catastrophic complications... Even 99% success rate we see all of the 1% complications. The brain is not forgiving.
I have had so many patients with debilitating strokes/ALS/MS/TBI etc who can't pick up the remote to change the channel and effectively lay there all day fully dependent- for them stuff like this could be game changing.

Good for him.
This is who the tech is really for, people with permanent paralysis etc..
Might make a good poll as well, would you get one if you had no movement in arms or legs and a NL could fix it?
reply
No, I already spend too much time on SN

Just don't get the first model!
Remember the gold apple watch editions? Garbage tech wrapped in gold. Never get the first model!
But... if it can be upgraded without more scar tissue... 😏
But the bandwidth is likely to go up, which would require more "wires" to be installed - whatever they're called.

Hard to argue against someone with an injury like that guy getting one, but for me? Fuck no. Straight out of Mandibles.

Mandibles has this too? Maybe it's worth reading.
