Great civilizations are primarily remembered because of impressive engineering. They leave us with physical reminders of their civilization.
There's nothing left of cultures who don't engineer monumental structures.
But great engineering needs to be combined with an eye toward the Good, True, and Beautiful, or else you get monstrosities like this:
When done correctly, you get magnificent structures like the Pantheon which that last 2000 years and still stun onlookers.
