The first edition of the FIFA Club World Cup will be played between June 15th and July 13th in the United States of America. The specific venues have yet to be announced.
This new format will be played every 4 years, starting in 2025, with 32 participating teams divided into eight groups of four teams each.
The top team from each group advances to the quarterfinals. From there, there will be knockout matches until the champion is determined.
How will the 32 spots be distributed?
- UEFA (Europe): 12 spots - Champions League winners from 2021, 2022, 2023 and 2024 + 8 clubs chosen by the continent's ranking
- CONMEBOL (South America): 6 spots - Copa Libertadores winners from 2021, 2022, 2023 and 2024 + 2 clubs chosen by the continent's ranking
- Concacaf (North, Central America and Caribbean): 4 spots - CONCACAF Champions League winners from 2021, 2022, 2023 and 2024
- AFC (Asia): 4 spots - AFC Champions League winners from 2021, 2022 and 2023 + 1 club chosen by the continent's ranking
- CAF (Africa): 4 spots - CAF Champions League winners from 2021, 2022 and 2023 + 1 club chosen by the continent's ranking
- OFC (Oceania): 1 spot - 1 club chosen by the continent's ranking Host country (United States): 1 spot
