In Germany, the decline in producer prices has once again moderated. According to the Federal Statistical Office in Wiesbaden, in February, producer prices fell by 4.1 percent compared to the previous year. This marks a slight deceleration from January's 4.4 percent drop and December's 5.1 percent. Analysts had anticipated a February decline of 3.8 percent on average.
On a monthly basis, producer prices decreased by 0.4 percent, contrary to market expectations of just a 0.1 percent decrease.
The primary driver behind the decline in producer prices continues to be falling energy prices, dropping by 10.1 percent year-on-year and 1.2 percent month-on-month. Particularly notable is the substantial decrease in natural gas prices, down by 17.7 percent compared to a year ago. Electricity prices also saw a significant decline, down by 16.8 percent year-on-year.
