The stupidity of the sanctions regime against Russia can be seen in the speed with which Russia has established new strategic partnerships. With the sanctions and the instrumentalization of the dollar, as if we were still living in the 1980s, we are driving the rapid growth of the 'BRICs' states, primarily as an energy community with production power over oil and gas reserves, and are thus positioning ourselves against us. We will see how this will play out on a monetary level in the area of foreign exchange. De-dollarization and the move away from US Treasuries as reserve assets are phenomena that are slowly but surely taking place. And it should give us a lot to think about when people around the world prefer a shitcoin from China or Russia to the dollar, even if this only happens gradually.

It's almost like partially sanctioning perfectly fungible assets is dumb.
