Personally, I believe there are no, or maybe close to no experts in the mining industry. Things are constantly changing making it really difficult to keep up with everything. The mining landscape from when I started working in the industry in 2021 has completely changed.
There were no hydro miners, and overclocking in immersion was all the rage back then. Today people are laser focused on efficiency and optimization of their mines.
There are so many topics to write on. There are a handful that I am knowledgable on such as mining hardware. There's a lot more topics I would love to learn and write about. Let me know what is interesting to you
Any insights on Chinese mining or other places where mining is restricted?
reply
Yeah that would be really interesting. I haven't heard much about people mining in China, but have heard a ton about people mining in South America in restrictive places

I'm into the pleb mining stuff
Bitaxe is pretty cool
Futurebit is pretty cool but a bit pricey
TheWildHustle broke 2 S9's but has his last kaboomracks space heater running smooth
I'm looking forward to getting lightning payouts and mining apps allowing for template construction on the start9 marketplace.
And last I checked S9's were around 100, TheWildHustle may need to break another.

Just start writing on how you started. Stackers love to read stories. Tell your story.

I'd like a technical breakdown of setting up the required electrical equipment, software configuration, how to go about measuring and managing energy use, and what needs to be considered with small vs larger setups.
reply
Yeah that's a great topic. Is there a way to save draft posts on this site?
reply
Use MacDown app (or other FOSS markdown writing apps) and post when done. If you want to make a longer post.
reply
You could also share your experiences with the mining equipment with the best performance
reply
Yeah that's a great topic I plan on doing sometime soon
reply
Yes, it would help your readers a lot.

Maybe product competition. Critics like to to say there are 2 main manufactures. Are there more start ups coming in to try and compete?
reply
Yeah that's a great topic. Bitmain controls lie 90% of the hardware being used to mine right now

A steelman analysis of the real negative extranalities of the industry (not media FUD but nuanced realities, ie noise, electronic waste etc)

Information on modeling and projections... Mining has so many variables... Walk through using a specific website

Yeah that's a great topic. For most things, I use insights.braiins.com for checking profitability

Any non-technical insight would be worth writing.

Are there any safe markets for quality used miners?
reply
There's trade offs with buying used equipment. There will likely be issues due to age as well as general wear and tear. There are always issues with brand new miners when deploying at scale.
You want to make sure you're purchasing from a supplier with reputation. The cheapest price does not usually yield the best results. Also make sure to understand the warranty offered on the miner if there is one.

How the mined bitcoins come from the coinbase tx into the miner's pocket. I.e. it's said you can get the so called "vanilla coin", however, there anyway few other tx hops to get the reward. How different pools payout your subsidy? Do you need registration? What about subsidy via lightning? How much non-KYC mining really is? (Hosting and ownership of miners, pools, IP addresses, etc.). What about security, miner remote hacks, dos attacks?

As much as possible about all the sick stuff that is happening in places like Malawi, and also speaking for myself, info about home mining predominantly for the purposes of heating the home and using btc to offset the power bill. I could see that being a killer app in cold part of the world, though I suspect it's early days.
