It's not that only the future is unknown.
Our history is full of mystry as well.
From 'The City of Atlantis' to 'The voynich Manuscript' or from 'the Mystery of DB Cooper' to 'the unsolved murder of JFK', there are numerous events or personas or things that remain mysterious till date.
You must have known many such mysteries already but, sadly you could only settle with speculations about them. That must have been funny, intriguing and mind scratching. Wasn't that?
So, why not let's just decide for one last time and comment what's the biggest Mystery of History according to you?
I'm going to take a broader approach to this question.
There is still no agreed upon answer for why the Great Divergence occurred: why Europe broke out of the Malthusian trap and put the world on a course of rapid gains in prosperity.
Most of the answers that have been proposed seem fairly ad hoc and often fail to explain why it didn't happen elsewhere or earlier.

I believe that the greatest mystery of humanity is where the human being himself comes from, there are many theories about it.
