The older I get, the faster time passes. It's crazy.
I remember as a kid playing Super Mario World for what it felt like an eternity, and yet it was simply one day.
Now it seems like time flies, I barely look into something and bam!, the day is gone.
I loved playing Super Mario World. I played it on a Raspberry Pi emulator. I didn't end up beating the game, but I got the world 6 I think. It was pretty fun.

Hard to believe we are this far into the year already…

And the century...
24% done.

My amateur speculation is that time passes more slowly when we're taking in lots of new information.
When we're young, more is new, so time passes more slowly.

I have found two explanations of this phenomena:
  • The older a person gets, every fixed amount of time, say an hour, a day, a year, etc, is smaller and smaller compared to your whole life. For example, when you are 2 years old, one year is half your life, but it's only 1% when you are 100.
  • Your brain stores memories more frequently when experiencing something novel. This can make you feel that a longer time has passed when you are doing a lot of new things compared to when you are doing the same every day.
