Since the atrocity that was the NBA All-Star Game, scoring is down about six points per game and foul calls have all but disappeared. Now it's not exactly the '04 Pistons, but games have been much more physical and defenders are really shining.
One funny element of this is that the league won't admit to intentionally changing how games are officiated, even though everyone seems to love this new brand of basketball. Why might that be? Might it be related to the fact that Vegas sportsbooks got annihilated on unders for about two weeks and Adam Silver values his knee caps?
How are you all liking the more physical play? The afore mentioned '04 Pistons are my favorite team of all time, so you know I'm here for it. Bring back the 63-59 defensive wars!
Relatedly, who do you think will gain and lose the most from this development?
I don't think we are going back to under 70 point games but I couldn't believe we had a game where two teams scored under 80.
I for one am enjoying it. Every one likes lots of scoring but it had gotten ridiculous.

I was looking at the potential playoff matchups and the East might have some first round rock fights: Knicks/Magic and Heat/Bucks. I could see either of those being very low scoring series.
We also might get the much anticipated Heat/Celtics round one matchup. I know the Celtics fans are already freaking out about what these rule changes will mean for that series.

Should be a great playoffs. I like the way matchups are shaping up.
Do you know of any sites that will give me the actual odds of the Raptors retaining their first round pick. I can get the odds of them getting first pick or top four but nothing that accounts for all the teams behind them possibly jumping to top four that would knock them out of the top 6 protected.

No, I don't know where to find that. It looks like they're vying for 6th with Memphis, but the five in front of them have a pretty big lead. I'd say it's pretty close to a coin toss that they end up with a top-6 pick.

I was trying to run 100 sims on tankathon yesterday to see how it worked out but my little one needed something and I got distracted and didn't go back to it. I believe I was around 17-23 (keep-lose). I think even if they finish 6th last they are going to need some luck.
I will rerun today.
