Elon Musk announced Neuralink is adding Dogecoin support to its brain implant software to protect those with the chip in their head from ransomware attacks and other intellectual property vulnerabilities at SXSW this week.
Neuralink announced that a white hat hacking consultant hired by the company to test the chip implant software's security discovered that there were potential vectors hackers could exploit to install ransomware software which would effectively encrypt and lock up all of someone's memories and ability to communicate externally.
Neuralink and Elon Musk realized they needed a solution so they looked to cryptocurrency, ransomeware attackers' preferred method of payment. However, due to Monero's lack of liquidity and Bitcoin's slow block times, the company opted to integrate Dogecoin to pay attacker ransoms.
"I think, first of all, that most of the people who use our brain implants are severely disabled. Their brains are not going to be high priority targets of hackers but occasionally someone like Stephen Hawking comes along and you realize like wow maybe some of these guys have a lot of value in their brains or maybe they have some weird fetish we can blackmail them with." Elon told SXSW attendees. "If your brain gets hacked, all you have to do is remember your Dogecoin private key and the payments will flow to the hackers' wallet and they will decrypt your brain and give it back to you." He added.
News that Dogecoin was going to be used to by Musk to pay his brain implant customer's IT security costs sent the coin soaring a very fitting 69% this week. Elon Musk commented about the coin's price increase caused by his plans saying, "Nice"
They don't call it a Shiba In u for nothing.
