Visited the zoo with my son and was surprised to learn that:
Which got me thinking about other countries
Singapore - Little Red Dot Australia - The Land Down Under Japan - The Land of the Rising Sun Thailand - The Land of Smiles Finland - The Land of a Thousand Lakes
So is your country known by a particular moniker? You can see that my world geography is frightfully lacking. More importantly, do you identify with the moniker?
reply
This is a hit, and I'm sure it will continue to be popular

Portugal: The country that can neither govern itself nor be governed Napoleão Bonaparte
reply
It reminds me of Thailand. It’s the only Southeast Asian country that has never been colonised.
Also you know everything!
reply
I know a bit about this. The Portuguese were the first Europeans to arrive in Thailand, and they realized that it was impossible to colonize them, so they made friends instead. That friendship has lasted for 5 centuries. On the left bank of the Chao Phraya, in the most noble area of Bangkok, stands the oldest embassy, a visible fruit of this long-standing friendship.

Thanks for making me smart.
Is it true that in Portugal every dish with cod is soul food? Haha

I don't know about the soul, but I can tell you that there are hundreds of recipes with cod. It is undoubtedly one of the most appreciated dishes.
reply

There's one thing I have to agree with Bismarck, we're just like the Spanish when it comes to getting on each other's nerves.

I think we call ourselves The Great White North. I could be wrong though. But many around the world call us The People's Republic of Canada.
reply
As in because a lot of Chinese citizens migrate over to Canada?

Countries are an obsolete term. Countries doesn't exist. Are imaginary boundaries. You better call it "tribes". Tribes have own regional culture and doesn't belong to any political bond.
