Never forget that. Every day you smile, is a day you will live longer.

old guys know better how to laugh.
Younger ones are busy with stupid shit.

There is a tendency for this to be true, but age is not a guarantee of knowledge. I know many people who are quite old and leave much to be desired. :)

Some people donโt have 65 years experience on the planet.. they have 1 years experience 65 times.
Live AND learn people!

Shelter, fire, food, water. Continually refine until they are sustainble. Then develop skills.
Everyone forgets about a positive attitude and skills acquired in the past.

I watch 'Alone' ๐

Yes is a good series. You will learn a lot from it.
But try to do it yourself, in stages. Is fun and you will experience good things about yourself.

I still remember making my first bow drill and getting that first emberโฆ actually quite life changing. Self-reliance (like responsibility) is clearly unfashionable these days.

Is good, but is quite long.
And is for real, no script.
One guy once won the challenge but he didn't want to go back home. The producers took him with force out. He wanted to stay longer because he started to thrive.

There was a guy who had a lot of smoked fish, but he was so skinny that the doctors took it away. He was in saving mode and it screwed him over.

I really enjoy this show, and it doesn't seem as staged as 'Naked and Afraid'...
My favorite was the one with Rolands... Rock House. They also have some really good female survivalists on the show. If you're into this kind of thing, it's definitely worth watching.

There are some good gems in there. People need to take heed that even with the knowledge, equipment and an idea of what to do - things can turn against you and you still make stupid mistakes which compound and can hurt your chances. These shows demonstrate that quite well.

Couldn't have said it better myself, you're right.

You can learn fire-by-friction in an afternoon, basic tool use and shelter and cordage from natural materials in another.
People donโt even know where their food is from so they are useless. Bear Grylls makes it look easy rubbing sticks together and drinking his own pi55 - long term survival in a harsh environment is hard.
And you have to develop relationships and have some tradeable skills rather than stealing or taking - in its simplest terms; I wouldn't want to perform an appendectomy on myself but i can make an axe and trade it with someone who can.

yes - building the solid foundation with the basic skills, then master certain tradeable skills while finding the honest and humble craftsmen you would like to get what you lack!
and stacking good relationship with like-minded people too.

We are dependent on consumingโฆ not creating
reply
yes, because buying is easier! and working in a 9-6 job is also easier, so do what you are told, get the money then to consume is like the easiest path to walk, with an imaginary safety, yet deep down you're stuck, without any real skills to survive on your own.
also keep being taught that it's difficult to create, everything is actually a mind block! and now that I've being shown that it's possible to make things with simple materials, amazing!

Learning skills takes patience and humility - itโs hard - like Bitcoin and thatโs why people donโt do it.

LOL this meme is funny, looks like I am coming with the axe to kill you both, like in a horror movie.
And you said to Natalia: "don't worry I can protect you with the book (maybe some magic spells) and the stone hatchet"

๐ A book and the knowledge that comes from it can be a very powerful weapon. Don't underestimate it.
