Joker or the field

@Undisciplined and I made a fun little bet a couple weeks ago pitting the first teams to 60 wins vs the impending remaining playoff field for the NBA championship.

Since we have been overloading on NFL free agency talk the past couple days, which I am sure we will return to soon, I wanted to shift to something different today and our gentleman's bet game me a good idea.

There is only around 20% of the NBA season remaining and two time MVP Nikola Jokic is the leading candidate to win the award again.

Here are the current top 6 in terms of betting odds to win NBA MVP:
Nikola Jokic
Shai Gilgeous-Alexander
Luka Doncic
Giannis Antetokounmpo
Jayson Tatum
Anthony Edwards

Would you rather have Jokic or the field?

Sats for all,
GR

I'll take Joker vs the field, but I do think it's pretty close.

The Nuggets may well finish with the top seed, despite not really pushing for it. In that case, I think Jokic will be a no brainer as the "best player on the best team".

reply

Logical but wrong.

SGA will take the Thunder to the 1st seed.

I will take 1000 sats on the field again if you want the Joker.

reply

Are we doing bets? I'll put 1k sats on SGA winning MVP if anyone wants to take the bet.

reply

I'm game. I'll take Joker for 1k.

reply
reply

Are you putting 1k on the field then?

reply

Absolutely.

reply

Ok, so that's equal odds three ways:
Jokic wins: I get 2k
SGA wins: @gnilma gets 2k
Anyone else wins: @grayruby gets 2k

Raiders releasing Renfrow. Too bad but not unexpected. He will be a nice piece for another team.

reply

Maybe New Orleans. Carr at least knows how to get him the ball.

reply

No Joker, no field, SGA please.

reply

Right on time. Just as I was tagging you.

All aboard the SGA train.

reply

Great minds think alike.

reply

Raptors gave the Nuggets quite the game the other night. Impressive effort with 4/5 of the starting rotation out. I like the direction they are moving.

reply

I missed that game due to work and having to drive kids to art class immediately after. Did see the highlights and boxscore. Seems like Raps had a good first half, then Denver really turned it on in the second half and was too much for the Raps to handle.

reply

Yes. I think Denver hit 10 of their last 12 shots. Turned it on when it mattered but still a great effort by Raps. Even when their lead was dwindling they were playing tough D and RJ was playing great. Murray was on fire, he hit a lot of tough shots.

reply

I think Joker wins it but since I am on the SGA bandwagon I will take the field.

@gnilma care to weigh in?

reply

Off topic, but I just saw the headline that RFK Jr. is considering Aaron Rodgers for his running mate.

reply

That would be classic Jets luck. But I'm betting he sticks with Jesse Ventura.

reply

I like that so much more.

reply

RFK went to ETH Denver said he was going to buy ETH and then lost his mind and said he might make Aaron Rodgers his running mate. See what shitcoining does to people. Haha

reply

I'd take the field (which really just means Shai and Luka), but it's close. The Knicks fan in me was hoping Brunson would still be in the discussion, but that's faded.

reply

Brunson has been incredible. I think the Knicks are going to make some noise in the playoffs.

reply

Same. I don't think I've been this excited for them since Linsanity (which was the most excited since the early '90s, for me).
