I apologize for posting this late. I usually make an effort to post these weekly hiking posts on Saturday evenings, or latest by Sunday morning Pacific Time, but it was a busy weekend for me, with work and a birthday dinner on Saturday. Then this morning, a bunch of errands and the annual fun times of organizing documents for filing income tax. I also got carried away with thinking about and writing the mastery post. But here we are, enough excuses, let's get right into it.
This week we are headed to the Murrin Loop and Jurassic Ridge trail. This is a short loop trail with a total distance of about 2.4km and a total elevation gain of about 160m. Although short, there are some very steep sections in the trail that need to be traversed with care.
The trail is located in Murrin Provincial Park, and it starts next to some large rock slabs and Browning Lake. Once past Browning Lake, the trail quickly turns into the woods, while passing by several rock climbing walls. Although not possessing as many rock climbing walls as the Smoke Bluffs, Murrin Provincial Park is still a popular place for rock climbers and they can often be spotted along the trail or climbing on the walls.

The Murrin Loop itself is not too difficult of a hike, as the trail does not have very steep sections, but the viewpoint at Murrin Loop is also not as high as the one at Jurassic Ridge. As such, we opted to take the challenge, took the fork towards Jurassic Ridge at the junction, and went up the steep incline for the higher viewpoint. The view at the viewpoint was quite breathtaking, as it overlooks Howe Sound and the mainland plus islands nearby.

The way down Jurassic Ridge was fun. We went down a few steep rock faces that require assistance of the permanently attached rope. We took our time and eventually got down to catch some rock climbing action at the rock walls.

Thank you. Howe Sound is very pretty with incredible views, as well as other parts of the Sea to Sky Corridor. Be sure to check it out if you ever head west for a visit.
