I’m sure you are familiar with the concept of the tipping point:
Malcolm Gladwell wrote a book on this.
I guess we at SN are the early adopters. My questions are:
  • What does the tipping point look like in SN’s context?
  • How far are we from the tipping point?
  • Is the tipping point even something worth aiming for at this point in time? How much growth can SN absorb?
Over to you!
One of the neat things about endeavors is that we can each define them slightly differently.
I actually feel like finding Stacker News was the tipping point of my social media journey. I have a reputation, reliable engagement, and income generation. It's all downhill from here.

Lucky for you that you are building your social media presence on Fountain, huh? 😉. Diversify and don’t put all your eggs in one basket.
I think @elvismercury asked the big picture question better than I ever could

Once people will fight eachother in the comments; then, and only then, will we have reached adoption.

In my opinion, SN is still far from the tipping point. If you take a look at the statistics, you will see that SN is still a baby. This idea of value to value in online forums is relatively recent and I think it doesn't make sense to most people. I've tried to bring friends on board and almost all of them say the same thing, why the hell would I pay for information if I can do a Google search and get it for free.

Same here and I replied with "because you can get paid, too" but then the response is just "why would I want to get paid for my comments, that's weird" lol
V4V is not easy to grasp, it will take time but I'm sure once you do, you'll want it everywhere

This is not for the average person. I believe in this model, but I'm aware that it's a limited market, albeit with a lot of room for growth. In short, I don't believe in mass adoption, which doesn't mean it can't be a big market. The average person either doesn't use social media at all, or just wants to scroll down mindlessly.

That’s a good observation. I assimilated to SN fairly easily because I have always loved chatting haha. Somehow replying my friends’ messages on WhatsApp drains me, but talking to random people from all over the world energises me a lot. I think it’s the novelty of the unknown haha

I love Malcolm Gladwell books! Outliers is one of my favorites as I’m a competitive athlete and want to be an outlier with my savings and investments.
I think we are still very early with the tipping point, but it’s been great to see the growth here this past year!

SN is definitely climbing up the hill but it has just started imo.
We are exactly 8488 metres away from the tipping point.
SN can absorb any growth because it's now an official adda for Bitcoiners. I truly believe that SN will cherish the same faith as does Bitcoin.

I think we are quite a ways away from a tipping point. I would like to reach the tipping point of having most bitcoiners on SN first before tackling broader adoption tipping points.
But I also think SN can be a gateway for bitcoin usage/adoption for non bitcoiners which is why I was yelling for 6 months about subs before territories were a thing.
