Portal not portable. Got it.
In all seriousness though, I think it always comes down to the customers you're targeting. Please those people and don't worry about the rest.
If the customer disagrees with your product design it simply means they're not your customer. That's okay. Everyone has different needs. As long as some people love it, it's okay to have people who hate it.

Technically we’re all always wrong.
The most intelligent people are ones that change their mind often. Having exposed themselves to more information, iterated on & thought deeper about problems than anyone otherwise would. That’s why they can often see superior solutions to others.
In this case, it’s a cool solution… not sure it’s the final form-factor but hope to see it get some traction!

Steve Jobs had this mentality. So did Henry Ford. Few people have vision or even give much thought to products. Most just pick from the options. Some think they know what they need but are wrong. As soon as they get what they want they may learn it isn't what they thought.
I think people learn the wrong lesson from the customer is always right. The customer doesn't know everything. When you are arguing with a customer you might win the argument but lose the customer. I think of it like relationships. Is the goal to be right, or to build a relationship. You can win a battle but lose a war.

Customer is always right because he is ready to hand over his money (for us it's bitcoin) for worthless goods.
