RV living is made expensive by RV people I have found.
It can be very expensive or very inexpensive depending on your expectations and how much work you are willing to put in.

Would love to hear more about this. How do you find cheap places to park, aside from Walmart parking lots? If you just look on the surface, many places are way more expensive than I thought they would be ($50 plus a night).

iOverlander app on Android is a really good resource.

FYI - I got to know some folks biking across the Americas, north to south. They used iOverlander heavily, to figure out where to get water, spend the night, etc...

nice I have heard of it but never used it. I will be sure to check it out. Thanks

We stayed exclusively with sites listed on Hipcamp or free space on BLM/State Forests/National Forests. We are set up to boondock though with no hookups needed.

Your RV must be relatively new?

Yep. That’s newer. First problem is usually the roof followed by electrical. Then all that if you don’t fix it means a trip to Elkhart or the scrap heap.

I rewired it and use solar/gen/shore. Our roof is getting kinda close to bad. This rig will get parked soon while we set up our first property and pieced out for the cabin there. We will have a different and definitely small setup when we go scout the next property.

Your refrigerator runs off solar? Do you run it all the time?
reply
our refrigerator runs on either electric or propane.
