Everyone has different definition of what defines a bitcoin maxi. What is your bitcoin maxi definition? Curious to hear your thoughts.
maxi: an individual that doesn't put up with bullshit projects that are either technically bad or socially bad (premine, decentralized in name only, or ponzi-like)

Bitcoin maximalism is descriptive. It is the conclusion you reach after understanding monetary economics and the nature of Bitcoin. Markets have a strong incentives to select for a single currency and Bitcoin has numerous advantages over altcoins (first mover advantage, decentralized leadership, and lack of hard-forks in particular).
Bitcoin maximalism is not prescriptive. We're not saying that the world ought to have one currency or that bitcoin ought to be adopted worldwide (at least not for reasons following not from the descriptive arguments).
Bitcoin maximalists are simple advocates of the first position, based on it's logical reasoning.

Not an answer to your question, but a message that resonates and I wanted to share:
I love Twitter.
People who complain about toxicity on Twitter are probably using it incorrectly or are not friends/agreeable in real life. I enjoy it.
To all my friends, all my so-called opponents, bring moar of it please.

Its hard to put into words, but its someone who talks about Bitcoin, but also in a manner that is masculine for lack of a better term.
For example i havent seen a woman been accused of being a bitcoin maxi

maxi asserts that all monetary paths lead to bitcoin because it's the superior form of money.
variations on maxi behavior include shitting on shills, dog-piling during episodes of groupthink, and excusing ugly behavior as 'in defense of bitcoin' while also asserting that bitcoin doesn't need them or anybody else.

Someone who believes in the inevitable success of both Bitcoin the network, and bitcoin the asset with strong conviction.
Not to be confused with a "Toxic" Bitcoin Maximalist, which would include the statement above mixed with a meat only diet, dickish attitude, misogynistic viewpoints, loves traditional families, owns a minimum 1 of machine gun and 5 other types of guns. Has smal pp.

I define it for myself a lot like James O'Beirne does.

  • you realize blockchains are extremely experimental and bitcoin is the most conservative and safe design
  • you don't think altcoins are inherently immoral, but you do think it's sad that 98% of those involved lack the technical wherewithal to realize how unsafe and speculative they are
I like this phrasing. There are definitely "low effort" bitcoin maxi's out there who hate altcoins simply for being altcoins. But the argument is more nuanced. You can make more money by investing in altcoins, but the risks and higher and most pro-altcoin folks are overstating the fundamentals.

maxi implies there are other good options and it's a term coined by a scammer shitcoiner
