She was born on August 3, 1919, less than a year after the end of World War I, Helen Jackson grew up in Niangua (population about 275), a railroad and farming town about 25 miles northeast of Springfield, Missouri.
In 1936, Helen Jackson, then a 17-year-old high school student married James Bolin, twice a widower.
He was 76 years her senior. Less than three years after the marriage, on June 18, 1939, Bolin died in the home of his daughter, Martha, after a lengthy illness. He was 96. Helen never remarried.
She passed away on December 16, 2022 when she was 101 years old.
Yep. One wonders what drove their marriage.
