As a kid I wanted a monkey. Then I heard all the horror stories. My parents broke out the old "they throw their feces at you" tales, as if that would discourage me. That's a feature, not a bug.

Before I do a search about the nazi part, I almost ordered sea monkeys from the back of Boy's Life magazine, but I always thought there was something fishy (pun intended) about the ad. They had these weird, smiling cartoon monkeys smiling at you. Even then I was suspicious.
