Germany's social welfare system is on the brink of collapse, posing a long-term threat to the economy. The escalating costs of political promises are dragging down the economy with no reform in sight. Social security contributions for state pension, health, and care insurance are set to surge from the current 40.9% of gross salary to over 50% by 2050 if no reforms are implemented. This impending burden is expected to diminish the country's attractiveness for employees, potentially accelerating the exodus of highly skilled workers. Experts warn that the upcoming legislative period is critical for enacting reforms, as delaying action risks reaching a tipping point where recovery may be impossible.
Wow! I have to believe the EU's days are numbered. Do you see parallels to the USSR in the late 1980s?

Yes, the difference is that the Soviet Union had already started out as a communist state and therefore had no economic substance. The eurozone is dying a slow death because it can fall back on decades of capital accumulation through an almost market economy system. It's like a slow external bleed

Imo, the mandatory public retirement system is one huge scam. A literal pyramid scheme that you can't opt-out of easily which additionally suffers from inflation created by the ones at the top of it.
The public health insurance is similar which additionally includes a ton of people suffering from Stockholm syndrome.
