Even it is true, US is also the #1 petro consumers and #2 importers meaning it can't be self sufficient for own needs so if you compare the net balance it goes far below the ranking.
You'll find this info easily. USA is no. 1 and energy independent
If US is energy independent why it would waste time, invest money and take risks destabilizing itself by installing proxies and leading wars in the Middle East?
