Bitcoin is very interesting. I think its a teacher. It can show you things about yourself. Good and bad. Bitcoin exposes people. It exposes them as empty suits, fakes, and frauds. Bitcoin rewards those with the long view. People with principle. People that are able to suspend consumption of the fruits of their labor. Bitcoin is also for enemies. I see it pretty much daily. Jealously that someone else has more bitcoin than you. Some douchebag maybe. Someone that doesn't get bitcoin like you do. They don't use it correctly. They hold the wrong views. Maybe they seem to be reaping the rewards but not "giving back". I will admit. I have these emotions as well. But, bitcoin doesn't have emotions. It just is. It doesn't care if you are an evil person or a good person. If you have good motives or bad motives. But we are all human. We have emotion and most of us want to see good people (from our perspective) be rewarded for their actions.
With all that said. Who do you hope will miss the boat on bitcoin? It can be a person, company, entity like a government. Whatever?
I'm still thinking about it but this though was triggered by how many react to people like Saylor and Musk buying bitcoin. Companies like Blackrock offering ETFs. I think it is a good thought exercise.
It can be a person, company, entity like a government.
I will always say: bitcoin is only for individuals. Entities could not "adopt" it because could not understand it. As you well said, bitcoin is also feelings and principles, not just a new form of money. So a gov, country or institution could not understand that. Only individuals.
Who do you hope will miss the boat on bitcoin?
Bitcoin also is NOT for everyone, is not for the weak, is only for brave. At the level we are today (in terms of stupidity) many people will not use Bitcoin. Simply because is another level for their understanding.
I will close with 2 memes, powerful memes so I don't have to explain more.

That's why I didn't say adopt.

Lol, bitcoin is for everybody. Bitcoin doesn't care about weakness or braveness.
reply
Then demonstrate me that everybody is brave enough to use only bitcoin in their life and never touch fiat anymore.
reply
Adopting electricity doesn't mean you can't use candles any more. Adopting cars doesn't mean you can't walk or ride a horse any more. Adopting bitcoin doesn't mean you can't use fiat any more. Happy to clear that up.
reply
no you didn't clear it up. You demonstrate how fiat maxi you are... Which part you do not understand? FIAT DELENDA EST
Yeah I've never brought it up with him, but brave is not the opposite of weak. Besides that, if it ISN'T for the "weak" then it's for the ELITES. I disagree-- I think it's for the "huddled masses yearning to breathe free..."
reply
Put another way. Bitcoin is not for anyone. It just is.

The whole R/Buttcoin sub, may they be excluded from it for eternity!
reply
It's a psyop. Not sure who's behind it, and I'm not a conspiracist, but you can't be that diligently, persistently ignorant and combative without skin in the game.
reply
I've never visited this subreddit but...
You should be a conspiracy theorist if it is more likely to you that it is a psyop. It takes more faith to think that than they are is just a bunch of opinionated dummies on the Internet. You have used the Internet right? People are really really dumb and really really stubborn.
The more it becomes clear that someone missed the boat the more strongly their brain is telling them they aren't wrong to preserve their ego. This will break at some point but for MANY people it hasn't.
reply
I try to avoid conspiracy thinking, but we all indulge a little, right? 🤠
You may be right. There are probably dedicated subs making fun of atheists, second amendment absolutists, etc.
reply
How would they profit from bashing Bitcoin while holding it?
reply
Either they don't hold it, but rather another risk-on or inflation-hedge asset that is suppressed by Bitcoin's gains (gold, say); or they are trying to suppress Bitcoin while accumulating it.
Like why is it specifically Bitcoin? They could just have a sub making fun of all kinds of things: moon landing deniers, 9/11 truthers, birthers, AND Bitcoin.

Because they're not right in the head and / or (but mostly and) are specifically butthurt about losing out.
reply
Exactly. Very common human reaction to being wrong or appearing to be wrong.
reply
And you know what? Fuck them!
reply
Nah I don't mind. They're having a good time and mostly not trolling elsewhere (like here). Maybe they have some valid criticisms, but not likely anything that hasn't been addressed in the last 15 years. I think they'll just give up, or maybe in 20 years they'll catch on.
The thing about that behavior... the results are what they deserve. Paying the dumb tax.
I hope the dying oil industries don’t try and buy into bitcoin
reply
No one which means he will understand the value of Bitcoin
reply
I think right now I'd have to say Kim Jong Un and the DPRK. Un may have bitcoin already though. I believe some groups in the country use it for some of their hacking efforts.
reply
The more north Korea and Russia accumulate, the more ammunition for the Western propaganda machine.
And to be clear, they are accumulating via hacking, extortion, and ransomware.
reply
I doubt they are hodling though. You aren't wrong. The argument that bitcoin is bad because of the people that use it is weak. It will not work in the long run.
reply
Maybe. But don't underestimate the power of limitless money in the name of a righteous war. And don't forget the willingness with which people will give up their rights when afraid, and give up the rights of others without any contestation whatever.
reply
I hope the people next to the money printer will not buy before my nocoiner friends do.
