Since my intro lacked context on my overall football playing career I thought I would post in order to give this more clarity and more realism to obtaining the goal of signing a contract by the age of 30.
I'm going to start with the future as Pro By 30 is something that will be accomplished in the near the future.
Future: I obviously don't expect to be signing at my age to a club that will pay all of my bills and allow me to live extravagantly, million dollar deals, things of that nature. Quite frankly, money has never been the motivation, and it has become even less so with each passing day as a Bitcoiner. My motivation comes purely from wanting to become a better footballer and to create more amazing experiences through football for myself and others. Therefore, in the near future I envision myself playing professionally somewhere in this world. And from there, I envision BTCFC becoming a sort of movement and community that helps footballers adopt a Bitcoin standard, and learn the importance and potential of being a footballer with a low time preference. I strongly believe moving forward, athletes who learn to lower their time preference, and adopt the Bitcoin standard will far outperform their fiat counterparts both in their respective sports and in life at large.
Past: I have been playing football since the age of 4, now 28, and have had the opportunity to experience the beautiful game in multiple countries. I grew up in the States, and played my whole youth career mainly in Southern California, which within the US is a very competitive area for football given the year round good weather, accessibility to fields, and the overall football culture that other States may lack. As a high schooler I played varsity all four years, played on a team that was nationally ranked first, and represented both my State and region (consisting of the major States in the West) in State and Regional teams. Therefore, I was never the best, but I was usually playing amongst the best during my youth career. During my high school years is when I seriously began to consider playing football professionally, and as a result this led to my decision to leave the US after high school and try and compete in Europe. Long story short, I ended up loving playing in Europe although I never made it past the semi pro level, and stayed their for 5 years where I played in England and in Spain. I learned an immense amount and those 5 years had a profound impact on not only my football life but for my life in general. However, the reality was much harsher than expected. European football is still miles ahead of football in the States, and for a non EU player to make it into the professional ranks, you have to be exceptional, and I never got to such a level. Even then, I was blessed with the opportunity to experience semi pro football in Europe as well as play against Premier League players, La Liga players, and even a Brazilian National team player. I would have never gotten such opportunities had I just stayed in the States. The last year in Europe was a tough one as I started to deal with fiat pressures, and this led me to becoming mentally depressed and in no condition to play well. In the end, I decided to leave Europe and head back home, and quite frankly at that point, I had given up on the dream and had very low motivation to even continue playing even just for fun.
But the itch to keep trying just would not go away, and thanks to Bitcoin, the Bitcoin community, and my friends and family the dream lives on and the motivation and drive is stronger than ever before!
Present: With that being said, for me to even get to this point of feeling confident enough in myself and in my ability to essentially publically announce my mission to become a professional footballer by 30, it took a lot of time and patience, and a much more low time preference but unorthodox approach in which I have not been playing for an actual organization for over a year now. Instead, my focus has been to "upgrade" my athletic engine if you will, as my trainer and I realized that I have the skills, but lack in professional standard athletic ability when it comes to speed, power, and strength. But now I'm much closer in level on a purely athletic spectrum to be able to compete at the professional level. Again, there's still an immense gap between myself and the players in the top leagues in the world, but I have gotten to an athletic level that can compete in say lower league professional clubs.
So where am I at now playing wise? Well the short term goal is to play in the UPSL in the States. This is more so to get my on field confidence up as well as to record some footage in order to create a more up to date highlight video of myself. I have been working with an agent that mainly works in Asia but regardless I need to be back on the field consistently playing before hypothetically I get an opportunity come the summer transfer window. The reality at age 28 is that you are usually written off immediately just because of your age, regardless of how good you are.
But thing is, this is a reality created by an extremely broken and human potential destroying fiat system. Football like all other things in life that fiat has touched and corrupted, is performing at a very suboptimal, far below average level, and by experiencing first hand myself how much better of a player and person I have become on a Bitcoin standard, and by simply lowering my time preference, I now am motivated to empower others to explore their true potential by sharing my journey as a footballer empowered by Bitcoin!
