its so cheap I would highly recommend just giving it a try to figure out for yourself how it works. Its so cheap and easy just start with it as a second phone on some cheap used phone to test out. You can only have outgoing calls via data based apps - e.g. a Signal call. Even if you pay for a phone number you cannot place outgoing traditional phone calls. its a tradeoff to get a KYC free experience that a telecom will still deal with to mitigate spam potential. I use and enjoy it very much. its very easy and works well even when traveling, though you will not have every bell and whistle of a traditional phone plan and company. If you are comfortable somewhat figuring out minor potential tech issues yourself then youll be totally fine, but if you are totally tech illiterate to the point where you wont google or youtube to figure it out and need to go to a physical store with any problem then its probably not for you. They do have customer service but its limited online chat.
