Personally I appreciate any upgrades, design is cool and everything...
But that code sending your IP address to umbrel directly, still concerns me, and also think that it doesn't matter how many face washes they give to their UI, most of the apps are still super outdated or lack crucial functionality. (With the exception of Immich, BTC core, Lightning, and a few others) also it seems strange that til now there is not a small section that says when was the last update of some apps.
Personally had to set up a CasaOS as another server in an old RPi 4 to get more updated apps, and have them working as intended.

Its flashy marketing
The tech is very immature.
Hard pass.
Spend more money on fixing and building shit - i don't need flashy graphics... that's for the VCs

These guys are killing it.
It still feels early, but there's undoubtably something there if:
- they can get the app ecosystem to mature
- mostly a matter of incentives imo
- make a bitcoin-paid app store already!
- they can figure out the NAT issue in a UX friendly way
- which they imply they will ... non-hardware business model coming soon?
Granted those things, I could see this touching mainstream as data breaches and gov backdoors continue.
(To be honest, I was upset when they moved away from a bitcoin/lightning exclusive OS, but I didn't sit with it long enough to imagine the product direction optimistically.)

lol at good evening Chad. The OS looks pretty slick.
I took a look at Umbrel a few months ago but @start9 just felt like the better option.

It looks promising for future use, but I would avoid it for now.
Perhaps for some who have testing purposes it might be useful.
Reading on github https://github.com/getumbrel/umbrel/blob/master/SECURITY.md, I realize that there are many security holes that average users don't even realize, let alone how many risks they are exposed to.
Traditional methods of cryptocurrency trade and private key storage remain reliable.
Tails OS is a great solution that provides anonymity. Otherwise for more advanced software users, virtual machines over ssh in an OpenBSD cli environment remains 100% secure.
What looks easy to use is not necessarily safe. They should add the following.
"Use at your own risk"
