Or he could give every person on earth 18 million sats.
reply
And there is actually enough sats in the world to do it.
With about 8 Billion people on earth and 2.1 peta sats in existence, the total per person would be 262.5 mega sats, which is more than enough for this to happen.

I could open a few /another big wumbo enabled LN channel. I approve.

Honestly, dumb move from his part. Ballin big is smart for startup founders. Naming numbers as big as the two biggest companies in the world combined sounds not sane and has the exact opposite effect.

I zapped you for this, but devil's advocate - advertising liquidity begets liquidity. Ie, the other side of the market gets made because he advertised.
Every pension plan and sovreign wealth fund on the planet just took notice of this.
Its hard to deploy 100s of billions.

eh...the probability of being able to have a positive return on single venture 7T investment is very small.
think about that number for a moment. how many paying customers do you need to earn 7T in say 10 years? Thats $58B each and every month for 10 years to "pay back" that $7T investment. Thats maybe 1B active paying customers for 10 years....
reply
You're misunderstanding what we're saying.
Sama doesn't want 7t. He's just saying <outrageously big number> to get media attention and draw in investors. The final funding would "only" be in the 100s of billions at most.

Next thing you know Swan will ask for $7 trillion and pivot into semiconductors and AI

Swan will claim to have already secured it, but no one will know from where.

And then they'll come out and say they have a secret mining facility in peru

Peru is untapped

That's quite a lot. Not sure if I'll be able to help you out. Let me get back to you, OK?

"“the world needs more ai infrastructure--fab capacity, energy, datacenters, etc--than people are currently planning to build.” He added that “building massive-scale AI infrastructure, and a resilient supply chain, is crucial to economic competitiveness” and that OpenAI would try to help."
How about, so give me 7t because the world needs better supply chains for chip fab, going forward, and it has nothing to do with the benefits or need for more a.i.

And we thought AI would bring hyperdeflation.

this seems way off.
what is the largest fundraising round any company on earth has ever done? a few billion dollars?
this is supposed to be 100-1,000x bigger, i’m skeptical.
reply
Exactly. He's going for the strategy of naming shockingly big numbers to get media attention. Maybe he hopes it'll increases his cult of personality because he "thinks big"
reply
When founders talk trillions you know we are on the upward swing of the inflation hockey stick.

He should make a profitable business first. Despite his prior failures, I think it wouldn't be unreasonable for someone to think it is worth throwing $50k his way and giving him another shot.
