We seem to have unlocked a new generation of weight loss drugs with Ozempic (and others), and as far as I can tell people seem to be relatively optimistic that they actually work.
The idea of taking drugs to improve health isn’t new (patent medicines back in the 1800s full of cocaine and morphine made similar claims), the new part is how effective these new drugs seem to be.
Watching this trend play out is interesting, it seems like most discussion about this can be distilled down to a few conflicting ideas:
  • early weight loss results seem to be good
  • but we have no idea what the long-term effects are
  • some perceive this as “cheating” as it doesn’t require the gym or a diet (no proof of work)
  • but in a free market, who are any of us to decide what other people do to their bodies?
Curious to hear your thoughts on the subject of Ozempic and other weight loss drugs, and whether you think drugs will play a larger role in general fitness over time?

My biggest problem with these new "weight loss drugs" is are they harming those with diabetes by limiting the supply? Those not being able to get their dosages since those with the means can get them easily.

great quote, hadn’t heard it before.
it reminds me of something i heard listening to a podcast with Joel Salatin a while back (i think on Joe Rogan’s show).
he said something like 9% of US GDP is spent on food today while 18% is spent on health care.
in the 1970s he said it was 9% on health care and 18% on food.
makes you think!

Love me some Joel Salatin....
If you can read or watch, In Defense Of Food it is pretty good.

Some folks getting nasty side effects. My position is if you have a disease or disability or need to be on other meds that make it very difficult to lose weight via diet and exercise then maybe give Ozempic a shot because carrying around an extra 100lbs won't do you any favours. But otherwise join the 100 push up until 100k challenge.

yeah i think i listened to a bloomberg odd lots podcast about this a while ago and they took the stance that that the benefit of the weight loss actually outweighs a lot of the other risks

truth is, despite all the dangers of abuse,
These two work so good medicine wise..

If you want to lose grip over your life there are better drugs,
Cocaine for instance / probably will ruin your life but you will have a lot of fun and heavy wheigth loss.. Meth / not so much fun but get you to loose weigth while having a blast..
Ozempic and similar are linked to suicide and stuff like rotten intestines.. I mean, if you want to kill yourself even after get thinner, better go with a blast..

Just quit eating industrial waste and start eating meat, and stop fueling the fiat monster. Seriously, if you are fat, eat a carnivore, high saturated fat diet, and you won’t be fat much longer.
