I mean you cut out the credit card processor and can collect payments directly instantly. There are devices out there now that could be used if modified. It becomes viable when bitcoin becomes as in demand as it should be. That will drive the development the equipment.

Where do you see micropayments actually happening?

The most obvious to me are these. Nothing new. They are already happening. I think the missing part is people valuing bitcoin. 

* Artists (Every kind from music to films)
* News
* Social media

Some more 

* Private roads funded by micro payment tolls
* Parking
* Food in your hotel fridge
* Vending machines
* Tipping waiters

I mean, I could see it pretty much for anything where credit cards are used and of course there are plenty of micro-payment situations where CC doesn't make sense due to fees.
