Gut reaction to #1 and #2 is that it's annoying to click off-site.
When a link post also includes a long quote (or the complete text) from the linked-to source, I'm WAY more likely to read it/engage with it.
I realize not all links are just an article or text, but most of them are and if you click on the link, it's pretty difficult mentally to come back and write a comment or something.

good point. this is something i didn’t recognize for the longest time… i’ve just started adding more context to the link posts i share.
a part of me still wants to race to post a new link when i see a good one, glad the 10 minute edit window exists to go back and add more context after posting
