At this point it feels like streaming is a failed business model. Most services struggle to be profitable and are slowly turning back into cable by adding in bundling and slipping in ads.

For sure. I think network effects are fundamental to streaming success. When Netflix had everything, it was a great service. Now that content is spread out, all of the streaming services stink.

As streamers fail, though, won't we see a reconcentration of content, which will make the remaining streamers profitable?

Yeah I definitely see the number of competitors in the market going down. I just hope that it doesn’t lead to price gouging by the few remaining players since investors are no longer content to keep throwing money at streaming.

That's a good point.

I don't expect radically higher prices, because the marginal benefit of adding new users dwarfs the marginal cost of providing service. Also, the cost of entry is very low for competitors.
