The responses are generated based on the same sources as bitcoinsearch.xyz. We made some choices to cut down on hallucinations, which limits its range and so it thrives with deeply technical questions and won't do very well with general purpose bitcoin things. We've also implemented L402 for DoS protection, which I haven't seen much of in the wild.
The total number of bitcoins that will ever be mined is capped at 21 million. This information is mentioned in the excerpts provided, specifically noting that "the number of Bitcoin that will ever be mined is capped at 21 million." The document also discusses the issue of bitcoins being lost forever due to private keys being unknown, but this does not change the maximum cap of bitcoins that can be mined.
I was expecting it to know the nuances of the system and the history of it.
Hm, there are a bunch of topics that cover this on BSE, e.g. https://bitcoin.stackexchange.com/a/38998/5406. The issue seems to be that the chat is limited to generate a response on basis of the first six search results to prevent hallucinations. There is not a good result in the first six hits for this exact search phrase. I could replicate your results, but also get better answers by asking slightly differently.

cool, do is it right that L402s kick in above some threshold of prompt requests?
i just tried one and i got my answer for free.
also, do you plan to monetize this and turn it into a business? or is the L402 protection just in place so you don’t lose a bunch of money?
Yes, we allow a certain number of questions for free.
No plans on turning this into a business. The payments collected are paid out as sats-for-review on review.btctranscripts.com.
very cool - the btc transcripts site looks great!
Not that great:
