This post by @cryotosensei got me thinking about the book A Fan's Notes, by Frederick Exley. I read it years ago, and it's the best book I have ever read about being a sports fan. It can be depressing, but anyone who lives and dies with their team can relate to it.
Have never read but will check it out.
It sounds like an adult (and more self-harming) version of “The Catcher in the Rye”. Will check it out
