Yes, I know it’s a click bait title, but my article will deliver what it entices. But I guess you would likely to leave feeling underwhelmed because the passive income I gain is not enough to even buy me coffee, let alone beer. You have been warned.
Still reading? Okay, I guess your curiosity is piqued. The first way I gain sats for doing nothing is signing up to receive adverts on Satogram.
I inputted my LN address at Stacker News, so I occasionally receive deposits of 1 or more sats. Something like this:
Initially, I thought the deposits would overwhelm my notifications at Stacker News, but it turned out that these adverts are few and far between. So I find myself hoping for more deposits to brighten up my dreary day a little. After all, these sats can be used to pay for my routing fees to my LN wallet.
Most newcomers to Bitcoin would have tried to get some petty sats through faucet sites. The thing is, I never stopped using Cointiply, which I think is the best faucet site out there. Its Unique Selling Proposition is that it gives you an incentive for holding on to your sats on Cointiply for interest. So if you accumulate 35,000 coins (its internal currency), you will get an interest of 5% per annum. Interest is paid out every week, for those who don’t believe in delayed gratification. Now, I have only earned 1885 coins so far, but hey, every little bit counts.
Cointiply also has a referral link, so if you are the resourceful sort, you can derive some sats every day from your referrals. My 9 active referrals bring in 285 coins for me today. Not the greatest amount but still makes me glad.
So this is how I gain passive income through Bitcoin. I hope it gives you some ideas!

I honestly think that SN is one of the closest and best working products one can actually earn some Sats with.

I am using the Slice browser extension. I didn't realize they had so many downloads. I thought it was just @siggy47 and I.
reply
Strange coincidence. I just had to log back in on an old desktop I rarely use so I can earn my whole sat.
reply
They were top of mind because I saw someone had one of the founders on a podcast recently. I didn't listen but the show notes caught my attention saying they had over 500k downloads. I didn't expect that at all. I thought it was just a few of us crazies.

It does not mean we're sane.
reply
That's a given.
reply
I also use it, primarily for ads on YouTube.

The raw amount of money isn't much, but that's not the point, to me. @WeAreAllSatoshi generates even less passive incoming through mining but he's probably learned a shit-ton about the relevant ecosystem, and has some KYC-free sats to boot.
reply
Correct, knowledge is through the roof!
reply
Haha. Do you manage your non KYC sats differently from the KYC ones? Like, hang on to the feeling that you make them
reply
Yes, a completely separate wallet for non KYC.
reply
I agree. The feeling of being in control n powerful is priceless!

Thank you for your honest feedback

I prefer freebitcoin to cointiply. I didn't like that earnings on cointiply are basically in USD.
reply
I have never thought of it that way before. I have freebitcoin too but it doesn’t let me to log in anymore. Boo hoo

Invest into buying an autopilot business or start a business that accepts bitcoin?

Knowing is growing, thanks for sharing! Fountain as a value for value podcast is good. Also my Gemini credit card has been awesome with 10% sats back on gas!
reply
Always a happy day whenever I get paid sats for listening to podcasts on Fountain haha
reply
How does cointiply work actually? Are you supposed to click on shitty links that just redirect you to like a million other sites? Nah.
reply
Well I don’t have to like those sites but yes, I have to let those adverts run in the background for 6-30 seconds. I do this at work, so no harm done for me haha

Could you tell me more about the space heaters?

buy an s9 and plug it into a wall socket, connect the s9 to the internet with an ethernet cable or wifi dongle. You can tweak the settings using brains firmware/software, run the s9 at half power and it'll give you about 2000 sats a day while heating your home. An S9 will run you about 125-200 bucks.
reply
Sounds like a worthwhile investment!
reply
Only if you already use resistive heating. Where I live I have a need for heating, but no cheap electricity, so my heating is natural gas and a heat pump. A miner would be a net loss for me.
reply
I needed a heater anyway, might as well get one that sprays sats and consumes less energy.
reply
I'd say so. I might look into getting a bitaxe this year for solo mining, In my opinion all plebs should look into solo lottery mining just as they should probably run a node and self custody as well.
Jam and Robosats are both apps on Start9, you can try to earn coinjoin and non kyc arb yield on your corn. Probably would earn more with an S9, but the "yield" comes from assisting other plebs with privacy and anonymity. Running a lightning routing node is difficult and will most likely result in you losing sats, but i'm bullish on (in the future) providing lightning liquidity for extra sats.
