Here we go, as @Coinosphererequested in my previous Desktop & Laptops market shares report, I below highlight the data found related to NAS devices

DSM (Synology)	60.0%
QTS (QNAP) 32.0%
OpenMediaVault	5.0%
Unraid 3.0%

Other 1.0%

Just to explain a bit more in details, DSM is the leading NAS operating system, with a market share of over 60%. QTS is the second-largest NAS operating system, with a market share of around 32%. OpenMediaVault, Unraid, FreeNAS, and other NAS operating systems have relatively small market shares.

Here is a breakdown of the market share by region:

Here as well as above, DSM is the leading NAS operating system in all regions, just confrming its imprint in the market. QTS shares in the market varies by region as it is more popular than DSM in Europe and Asia. DSM is indeed more popular than QTS in the Americas and Africa.

Here is a breakdown of the market share by vendor:

Not sure if everyone is aware, of, that DSM is the default operating system for Synology NAS devices, and QTS is the default operating system for QNAP NAS devices. OpenMediaVault, Unraid, FreeNAS, and other NAS operating systems are available as third-party options.
