Glass half full: maybe encouraging more people to explore alternatives and take more seriously fully self custodial and more private options such as Sparrow. Nunchuk also has a plan thats roughly half the cost $120 per year. Also Unchained still is a great option and has a great track record, probably reasonable to pay some level of ongoing fee for that safety net. Glass half empty: This is kinda ridiculous in terms of overnight magnitude to go from completely free to $250 overnight. Some more gradual step up over time seems more reasonable. I'd much rather see a lower annual fee and a much higher signing fee. Paying something to have that safety net is reasonable imho, but $250 for a safety net you probably never use seems expensive. Maybe if they gave more info on costs to justify? But when Nunchuk is half the price and I can do it myself pretty easily in Sparrow, why pay $250?
I wonder if this indirectly helps more expensive options such as Liana's premium plan seem more reasonable given its better capability. Basic 2 of 3 multisig is starting to feel like somewhat of a commodity product that many companies offer, though Unchained is certainly the largest and most reputable.
