So, someone on Nostr posted this: "Who is starting a website to see which bitcoin businesses donate some of their profits to devs? This way we can support those businesses and make it know who is team bitcoin?" I think, in the spirit of things, the person means well but it's kind of wound me up a bit (well, a lot if I'm honest hahahaha) Here's my response: I think in the spirit of things this is very much meant well and might, on the surface of it, sound like a good idea... but... just some things to mull over: How many small pleb startups, who are trying their best to incorporate bitcoin into their business, are turning enough profit, or even a profit at all, I wonder? Is a mum and dad company trying to provide for their family and stay sovereign not part of "team bitcoin" because they can't afford to give part of their profits to devs? Do they not deserve to be on such a list or website? They are still working to build the bitcoin counter economy and drive adoption of an alternative free monetary system. Everyone that is doing anything to build an alternative system and exit the matrix is doing something, it doesn't matter how small. I would urge people to REALLY THINK about things like this first before getting carried away. Is it in the spirit of bitcoin and what the creation of btc was meant to fix? DOES IT "FIX THE MONEY"? Isn't bitcoin for the small guy, ordinary families, the underdogs? Lets not get carried away and recreate the same shit system we're trying to replace. A social credit system where if you're not giving to charity or good causes and have enough money to look like a dogooder you're not deserving to be promoted or go onto special lists, but if you can you are lifted up. Be careful when using terms like #teambitcoin that exclude people.
EVERYONE who uses bitcoin, drives adoption and tries to incorporate it into their lives, businesses, teaches their kids about it is TEAM BITCOIN.
I haven't even got into the question that, now the devs are accepting matrix money from the big corporations, will they need money from the struggling masses? Heck, I don't even like the term "team bitcoin". It sounds a bit culty to me. It's exactly the kind of language used in government pysops.
What are everyone's thoughts on this? Primarily dealing with the first point, not the matrix money.
Good post. Thanks

The concept of Team Bitcoin and this list was driven by VanEck's extremely successful marketing ploy asserting that they will allocate 5% of fiat profits from their ETF into Bitcoin core dev. The suits are coming with handfuls of cash...stay alert. Be humble. Stack.

If we aren't devs, we can spread the Bitcoin word among the world and daily DCA for our future heirs
